It was a case of sticks and stones won’t break our bones but names will hurt us for judges in New Mexico last week (June 28th) - who ruled against one enterprising Albuquerque man changing his name to the hard hitting ‘Fuck Censorship’ (but you can call me Fuck!).
They ignored his plea that not allowing the change was itself improper censorship and ruled it offensive to Common Decency (who’s he and why are his sensibilities important anyway?!). In the end allowing it might have made it easier for cops to find the identity-shifter later – his current legal name is ‘Variable’.
