4 - Fast Forward film festival - Free festival showing short-listed films in Fast Forward competition, which asked film makers to say what made them 'angry amused sad or just plain mad about the crazy world of capitalism'. 5 - Stop Camden Bio Hazard and Animal Lab Coalition - There are plans to build a deadly \"28 Days Later\" lab in Kings Cross, Camden, London alongside St Pancras International, behind the British Library on a council house estate. This has been criticised by MI5 but is backed by Gordon Brown, the MRC, UCL, CRUK and the Wellcome Trust. Local residents are against the lab plans as are councillors, MPs, businesses and tourists who visit Camden. We are a peaceful inclusive coalition campaign of different groups, locals, activists and individuals who are against the proposed lab plans. If you come to the meeting please bring enough money to buy food or drink at the cafe. All food and drinks are vegan and organic. There will be a residents meeting earlier in the evening elsewhere.

6 - Pogo Cafe screening - Themroc - Themroc is a 1973 French film by director Claude Faraldo. It was produced by François de Lannurien and Helène Vager and its original music was composed by Harald Maury. Made on a low budget with no intelligible dialog, Themroc tells the story of a French blue collar worker who rebels against modern society, reverting into an urban caveman. A controversial film that surely helped inspire the anti-civilisation movement!

11 - The Last Londoner in Guantanamo Bay - Shaker Aamer is a 42 year old Saudi national who has been held in Guantánamo Bay for more than 7 years. Seized in Pakistan in late 2001, he has been abused and tortured in Afghanistan and Guantánamo Bay. Shaker has never been charged or tried. He has a British family living in south London. 12 - Brighton Carnival - Brighton Carnival parade bursts onto the streets on Sunday 12 July. Leaving Middle Street at 2pm, the parade of over 600 participants from community groups, bands and schools from across the city will dance down to Madeira Drive. On Madeira Drive, the Brighton Carnival Village turns into a festival as the paraders and revellers rock-up and refuel with Caribbean food, cool drinks and just keep on dancing on the streets to live music and soundsystems. The first low-carbon carnival in the UK!

21-July to 26-July - Peacework training - Core Skills for Working in Conflict - This is a highly practical, hands-on course designed by International Alert to prepare anyone wanting to work in conflict prevention, crisis management or peacebuilding with the essential skills for working in a conflict situation. 3 - Pogo Cafe screening - Breaking the Siege - A film about the events in Atenco / Mexico 2006 San Salvador Atenco, May 2006. Two months before the presidential elections, a conflict for land and rights escalates between the population of Atenco and the Mexican government. Unbelievable events take place: the police attack a marketplace, the inhabitants block the highways leading to the city, and confrontations between an outraged population and police forces break out. The state of emergency goes on for several days and culminates in the death of a 14 year old boy. This video analyzes the events in San Salvador Atenco during the first days of May and denounces the violation of the civilian population’s human rights by state and federal police forces.
